Building a career at Forterra

Whatever route you take to join Forterra, whether you join us as a graduate, an apprentice or straight into a role, you will be assured of first-class support to help you develop your skills and build the career you want.

Careers - Brickwork careers from Forterra
  • Forterra’s graduate schemes have been designed to develop highly successful managers and leaders, fast-tracking them along their chosen career path in either our Brick and Block or Bison Precast businesses.

The two-year schemes are usually based at our manufacturing sites in Derbyshire, Leicestershire or Nottinghamshire where you will have the opportunity to learn directly from experienced professionals on-site instead of the classroom.

We will expect big things from you, but, in return, you will receive outstanding, hands-on opportunities to get involved in organising and leading projects that address real business challenges. If that appeals to you, then bookmark this page and check back to find out when applications are open for our next graduate intake.

Careers - Internship schemes from Forterra
  • If you’re ambitious and want to spend 12 months with an employer before going back to university to finish your studies, explore our internship schemes. If you excel, it may secure you a place on our graduate scheme when you complete your studies.

Over the course of the year, you will shadow experts, get involved in short projects and present to a panel. Throughout your time with us, you will have a mentor and regular progress checks to make sure you’re getting as much out of the experience as possible.

We offer internships in three areas: Commercial and Logistics, IT, and Operations Management (Bison Precast). If you think you have what it takes and would like to get a taster of what it’s like to work with one of the UK’s leading building products manufacturers, then add this page to your favourites and check back to find out when applications are open for our next internship intake.

Careers - Apprenticeship schemes from Forterra
  • At Forterra our apprenticeship scheme covers all fields of engineering. It is a one-year residential course set in the heart of Birmingham, followed by up to three years of work-based training at one of our UK facilities. After completing the course, you will graduate from the programme with an NVQ Level 3 Certificate qualification, as well as hands-on experience working with an industry leader.

We also offer a Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) Apprenticeship. Join our new apprenticeship drivers’ academy and become LGV qualified with the opportunity to acquire additional driving qualifications and start a career with a leading employer. Applicants must be 18 years old and hold a valid UK Driving Licence.

Interested? Bookmark this page and check back to find out when applications are open for our next intake of apprentices.
